What is Truth?

Statements that are true correspond to reality. Reality is the way things are. The Apologers are committed to TRUTH. In fact, I have said that I am more committed to truth than I am to Christianity. However, that’s why I’m a hard-core Christian; because I sincerely believe Christianity is true! That is to say, I believe the proposition, “God raised Jesus from the dead,” corresponds to reality.

If that proposition is true there are two essential “ingredients” that must me true as well: 1- God must exist, and 2- the resurrection of Jesus must be a real historical event. Now, I believe in the existence of God and the resurrection of Christ; however, I don’t believe these propositions via “blind faith.” I affirm these statements because of reason and evidence.

The Apologers are committed to demonstrating and defending truth to all people because we love all people. We will look at all arguments for and against the proposition, “God raised Jesus from the dead,” as well as other peripheral but related issues. Alvin Plantinga has noted that there are over a couple dozen arguments logically proving that God exists, and many don’t realize that based on the historical method, we can conclude with high degrees of historical certainty that Jesus did, in fact, rise from the dead. William Lane Craig refers to all of these arguments together as the “cumulative case” for Christianity. Thus, if this is true, we have evidence for the truth of “Mere Christianity” (as C.S. Lewis called it); that is to say, we have evidence for the truth of the proposition, “God raised Jesus from the dead!”

These arguments include (but are not limited to) the following:

The Kalam Cosmological Argument
The Leibnizian Cosmological Argument
The Moral Argument for God’s Existence
The Teleological Argument
The Ontological Argument
The Evolutionary Argument Against Naturalism
The Freethinking Argument Against Naturalism
The Historical Argument for the Resurrection of Jesus

The Apologers are committed to TRUTH, and we are committed to demonstrating and defending truth. We believe that the Christian worldview is the only worldview that can make sense of all the data. This data includes scientific data, historical data, metaphysical data, philosophical data, and conclusions based on the laws of logic. I’d say this gives us fantastic grounds for confidently claiming, “Christianity is TRUE!”

On the side of truth (John 18:37),
